I live in Mauritius and my mother lives in Cape Town South Africa. I have just published the first of a trilogy on South African History on Amazon as an ebook. I did not see anywhere that the publication would not be available in Africa, and yet if I leave the ebook with Amazon, I cannot publish it electronically anywhere else.

I have never come across something this unfair or frustrating in my life.

Indeed, I did not point out how the current system marginalizes those in the developing world, and I should have. I’m currently contemplating writing a review article about some of these aspects and will try and incorporate a reference to this extent into the article. Thanks for alerting me to my oversight.

Interesting rant! I’ve got the same issue with my kindle.

If you are interested in locals trying to make their way as authors go to http://www.justdone.co.za

We have a lot of local talent that is left unrecognised in the sea of international book sales.
